New laptop, broadband dropping out, help please
Discussion
Evening
So we decided to pickup a new laptop, nothing too special, a HP one I picked up from Currys. They had a deal on Mcafee, so we got that for a year, and we're on Sky fiber unltd broadband.
The broadband works fine with all other devices, but keeps dropping out on the laptop. I've not had chance to check it on another network, but I have tried uninstalling the Mcafee, which didn't stop the broadband dropping out.
Tried Googling, but not much help, Mcafee on live chat suggested I uninstall and call them, but I haven't had a spare hour to go through all that yet.
Anyone suffered any similar problems and know a quick fix to help at all please?
Thanks in advance

I had exactly this problem recently, and it was an IP conflict. My printer was set to a fixed IP, and a tablet (dynamic IP) kept picking the same address when the printer was off. Turned on the printer, and the tablet kept dropping out. Changed the printer to dynamic, and the problem went away.
I used an app called Fing on my phone to show all the devices and IPs on my network.

and that's why fixed ip addresses should be outside of the DHCP IP address pool.I used an app called Fing on my phone to show all the devices and IPs on my network.
Hello again.
Ok, updated the drivers, that's not worked, and also checked the IP address, and the router is already on 2.4.
Looks to me, its a message to do with 'the default gateway is not available', which a lot of people seem to have had issues with on Windows 10. However, I'm struggling to find a fix for this.
Anyone able to offer any further help please?
Thanks in advance.

Drops out when running on the battery, and when its on charge.
When it does drop, I just have to wait for it to reconnect, not doing anything special to reconnect. Tried going into network settings and disabling and enabling to get it going, but doesn't seem to help.

My Dell XPS 9370 suffered terribly with wifi drop outs and issues waking up from sleep mode.
The sleep mode issue seems to have been fixed by a BIOS update.
The drop outs 'seemed' to improve when I changed the power management options so it no longer put the wifi adaptor into low power modes when on battery or with low battery and on charge. I had to do some registry change to enable the 'ultimate' power plan.

I can try a connection with a cable, but can't right now.
If that's a reply to me, it'll work fine with a cable.I meant try wifi, but with security off, so it's just an open wifi connection. I've had issues in the past were some types of wifi security (WPA, WEP etc) wouldn't work.
I was facing the same issue. It got resolved through 192.168.2.2 guide. You may refer it.

Some ideas to check....
As already mentioned - check, check and check again that you are not getting an IP conflict! If you know how, set a manual IP on the laptop, that is outside the DHCP scope and test.
Make sure you have enough available IP addresses in the DHCP pool on the router for all the devices you have in use (if case somebody has previously changed the default scope in the past).
Try turning off any local windows firewall and/or the McAfee client firewall, just in case something in there is blocking, or the two are fighting (remember to turn back on once you have found the cause)
Force an alternative DNS server ip address and test.
