The fleet, Abarth, Alfa, Alpina, Morris & Saab!

So having recently added to the fleet I thought it was a good time to show them all off to the PH jury. We'll go alphabetical in the interests of fairness (but the Alfa is is my fav 
)
2017 Abarth 595 Competizione in Campovolo grey. Bought this as a company hack last year. Gratuitously noisy and pretty uncomfortable but masses of fun and looks cracking.
1972 Alfa GT Junior. I've had this for 12 years. Its never been a trailer queen but is currently looking at its scruffiest. Having had lots of welding done on sills and arches over the summer it needed a respray. I started to rub it down and prep myself then decided to leave it to the pro's. However, in the meanwhile I'm enjoying running it without bumpers on a rat look. Its out in all weathers and has always been regularly used and many times as a daily. Its been to LeMans and loads of events over the years. The plan was to get it painted in the spring but I may run it like this for a bit of fun over the summer. Values have rocketed in the time I've had it but thats not what its about for me. It sounds brilliant and goes beautifully.

2010 Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo Touring
The latest addition. We need a new kids and dog wagon and this fitted in a happy middle ground between what I really wanted which was a W123 estate or RS4 Avant. Its not that fast but its economical and I think it looks cracking. I've always loved Alpina styling and this is a relatively cheap way in.
1963 Morris Minor Convertible called Marge. This is the most loved family member and puts a smile on everyones face whenever you go out in it. Late night eBay purchase for a steal, picked up at night, in the rain at a service station in Essex for cash, with no history. However its been absolutely fantastic and just keeps on going and going. New hood being fitted next week.
1992 Saab 900 Turbo (LPT). This was bought as a work car and has been in everyday service for 2 years until the Abarth came along. It had 240k on the clock when I got it and now shows 260k. Its rock solid and to me looks so cool. Its an incredibly practical car with a huge load space in the back. It did the run down to LeMans the week after I bought it. I always thought this would be a keeper but having been offered to buy back my old Alfa Spider recently I may put it on the market in the Spring, it'll be a hard wrench though.

So thats my little bunch. I love them all for different reasons. Its a constant battle with my long suffering wife to justify why we need them all and juggling garages but its worth it!

Thanks. I only ever tried to smuggle a car once, never again! I had been chatting up an old boy for about 5 years who had a really beaten up mk1 MX5. He stopped me one day about 4 years ago and said I could have it for £400! I couldn’t believe my luck, running, MOT’d just loads of dents. I figured I’d get 2 mates in with me and we’d have it as a cheap track toy. However I made the fatal mistake of not telling her until 2 days after I’d got it when she heard from someone else. Went ballistic, not because of the cost but that I hadn’t told her. I had to sell straight away. Never again making that mistake again....parts on the other hand are easier!

The short answer is no, they never made like that. The longer answer is, this is a GTJ (but with period 2.0 engine) so didn’t come with twin lights originally (some did later). However, I prefer the chunkier grille and light set up so changed grille. Then decided to put my own twist on it by not having inner lights and putting putting a mesh over instead. I’ve seen it done (presumably for added air intake) on GTV racers and the Giulia in period often had a mesh covering. My mesh covering though is made from my wifes cake cooling rack!!
