Looks like a good buy. Do keep us updated; very interested to know what running one of these is like.

The only thing I know to watch for is coolant pipes, but even that looks like something for a good home mechanic.

Well, 2 years and 12k miles in and the car has been going really well.

High quality too, as very little wear in 147k miles.

Maintenance-wise it’s just been standard servicing. Design 911 are good for parts, and I use Mobil Super 3000 5W-40 oil. Parts are cheap for a car of this type, and an absolute bargain compared to my RS6. I’ve had the discs and pads replaced with Brembo items, and that’s about it.
Ecurie Ecosse - reading this update fills my head with allsorts of nonsense! Whats the bork factor for these? G/box 4WD?

Does yours have FSH? was it a private sale? Any words of wisdom if considering one of these?

Well this is good. Its nice to hear a good ownership story on this engine, I was under the impression that they ate liners?

I wanted one a few years ago but chickened out and bought an X5 instead

I think with the cayenne if you can get past how it looks they really are fantastic machines. Our mk2 cayenne is by far the best all rounder I’ve owned. My wife calls it Nemo as she thinks the front looks like a fish. (I’m over it as she drives a Volvo that looks like a block of flats) Reassuring to hear positive reliability stories too. Mine is on around 120k and looks and drives like a 30k miles car. (Bought from the first owner who used to commute to Portugal from Poland to buy handbags allegedly)

Off road ability is abysmal however but I guess that’s down to the Yokohama advans more than anything else.

Mk1s are becoming an absolute bargain now!

I think the MK1 are so cheap is because every story on them contains words like 'ruinous' ' wallet drainer' so that puts a lot of people off.

Gosh I wanted one, got scared by bork stories and bought a 15 year old Lexus RX instead, it's been bulletproof and comfy, but I do look at these, when I hear stories of them going well like this, and have serious pangs of envy.

As I was driving up the Alpine roads to Val D'Isere this year in the RX I really wanted a 4x4 with a bit more engagement, I saw a few Cayennes there, and a Lambo Urus!
