Boot alignment

Is there an easy way to align the boot? Let me explain.

I noticed before I bought it that, from standing behind it, the boot on the right side (driver's side), at the rear edge just above the brake lights, is slightly mis-aligned. It seems to be about 1/2 an inch too 'high'.

The boot operates perfectly, and its aligned correctly on the other side. Is there something I can adjust to bring it back down, so that running my finger over it I don't feel a 'step'? There are some rubber stops along the edge of the boot opening, but they're not getting in the way of the boot closing fully.

I'd be interested to hear what others say as mine is almost identical. Perhaps it was something to do with the mouldings.
I asked about it when it went in for some work and they said that there was no way to adjust it really and as long it was working and did not let in water leave well alone.

Allen Key, there is a screw at both sides near the hinges. Looses and move the boot lid to the correct leval and then tighten.

sorry to butt in but Claire do you mind if i ask what colour is your Chim? ive got a Saphire black 500, yours looks a similar colour, havent seen another one...

Starmists are great colours mines Crimson starmist with magnolia.

TBH I never thought of the colour, Miss Daisy was the only one that jumped out at me in the classified mainly because the chassis had been waxoyled from new.

If I was to pick a Chim on colour alone it would have to be either Giallo Fly Yellow, Imperial blue or Crystal Topaz.

I love Gallio fly as well, in my youth I had a yellow escort and loved it to bits, but getting too old now hence the "classic" colour.

Anyway....back to the thread, will give the allen key a go tomorrow and see what happens. Noticed you said "had mine done the other week". So you didn't actually do it yourself!!! Are you sure it isn't one for the professionals?

Hmmm, mine is a 94 with the external hinges. There is a large allen bolt in the bottom of the hinge, but that doesn't seem to offer any adjustment.

I'll have a look tomorrow.

Mines the same, it seems to be as a result of having the gas strut only on one side pushing the edge up when shut, although I may be wrong.

I had the same thing on mine. Gave up trying to line it up and took in it into a maindealer in the end.

my 95 chim is exactly the same, wasn't sure what to do about it,if anything, as I've lived with it for 3 years now!

It's the wing alignment that needs adjusting the boot's perfect

If thats the case, I wonder if its adjustable in any way. I bet a couple of mm would do it.
