A few months ago I got chatting with a bloke about his early 944 which he claimed to have this galactic mileage. This evening I was having dinner and bumped into him again, coincidentally as a friend and I were about to order an Uber, and he offered me a run in it, which suited.

Ok, it felt a little rough around the edges, and the seats were a bit threadbare, but a lovely car. It’s had a head gasket but nothing else internal, recently had the original fuel pump replaced.

A real testament to the quality of these motors. I’ve only got his word for it that the first number is 7, but I believe him.
