Good morning all

My commute is due to increase in distance in May, and I will be spending more time on A roads and motorways. I'm looking for something big and wafty, and most of all very quiet inside! I've been looking at the new Audi A8 (D5), as there are some huge discounts to be had and 0% APR on the PCP at the minute too! Carwow quoting 26.3% off list for the 50 TDI S Line.

I am just wondering if anyone owns this car and could give me some more (long term) owner specific feedback than the usual reviews from the journos who drive the car for 45 mins?

Thanks in advance

I run an older D3, it's more wafty than a very wafty thing and exceptionally quiet. Mine's twelve years old and it still feels exceptionally tight and drives like new #cliche.

They're big, you need to be good at parking. That said the D3 is really easy to manoeuvre within mm as you can see exactly where the corners are.

They use a lot of fuel (well mine does).

The boot is huge, you can easily fit four full size suitcases in along with cabin bags.

The suspension soaks everything up and you can tighten it up if you want to press on. They drive very well but you'll feel the weight if you really push it. That said, you'll feel like Ronin.

After twelve years all the switchgear feels quality and works as new.

If they're still using the 4.2TDi it's a peach, overtaking on A roads is a delight as that's where all the punch lives.

They don't ferry world leaders around without good reason.
