For the in-laws. Only going to cover 8k p/a tops, needs decent boot space with as flat an area as possible to take a wheelchair, smaller than A4/3/C class.

£12-15k available, but like most they’re fearful of future tax costs, and regardless of the hype around it, Bath (where they live) will be introducing a Low Emissions Zone, so low emissions (and petrol or hybrid given mileage) ideal. Leather also a really desirable option, as would be having it heated.

Obvious candidate is an Uber Hybrid Auris, but is the boot space up to much with the batteries?

Megane looks good VFM, but engine choice is mediocre at best, 1.5D that powered Noah’s Ark and probably not Euro whatever compliant, 1.2 seems pathetic). Not sure it comes with leather either.

Astra gets ZX10 thumbs up in Elite Nav form or at least 1.6T, and I don’t see that engine in the estate, but that trim is and it has cow.

Focus?

What else? Kia Ceed 1.0 ticks most boxes but surely depreciation will be savage?

Not quite a big enough load area for a chair I’m afraid. Ta for the suggestion though.

All below will be ULEZ compliant have leather & a whole host of kit:

Megane Signature Nav

If you want Elite Nav trim (you want leather so Elite it is) then they only seem to come in 1.4T 150 form with the 1.6T 200 being SRI only:

Instead of going for the 1.0T Kia C'eed I'd say go for it's brother, the Hyundai i30 in Premium trim it also comes with the more potent 1.4T engine but they only come with half leather:

1.5T 180 Focus Titanium X the best steer but half leather apart from the odd one with full leather like below:

If you want full leather on a Focus then the ST-3

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

The Leon is another option & if you want leather it comes with a bit of PH swagger:

Cupra 280

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Volvo V60 good cars but you'll be looking at older cars with more mileage, if you're going to get the chance to drive it then steer them towards the T6 wink

ZX10, you truly are awesome!

Will check those out very soon, really appreciate the time you spend in here, could just rename this folder “Ask ZX10”!

C32AMG or C55AMg.
You could go for a B5 RS4 too.

No problem glad to help I forgot to say the Megane would be my first pick as an everyday car followed by the ST-3 (but not in white) & then the Astra.

Interesting, even with the 1.2?

VFM with the Astra seems insane. Guess that’s the badge for you...

Skoda Yeti?
If you need room for a wheelchair, is there not a site that list vehicles that can take one?

https://www.alliedmobility.com/wheelchair-accessib...

I used to take my Mum’s wheelchair flat in the boot of an E36 saloon, without folding seats.
It would fold quickly enough. It would even go folded upright into my wife’s Fabia saloon.
If you want a vehicle for ease of use, you will perhaps need to go to a slightly higher roof than a normal estate, as in the site above.

Golf. Some might see it as a bit boring, though you can get sportyish versions, but it probably does the job very well.

This - they do it with a 0.9 TCE petrol engine too which should be perfect for what you'll want the car to do. At the budget you'll get a new one with options too which isn't to be overlooked
