As above - I'm about to get a new Tiguan which has keyless entry - can it be easily coded out?

This probably applies to all other similar VAG cars.I'm still amazed that you can't disable via OBC. I've always avoided keyless cars but I've now run out of options...

Code it out?

The car doesn’t even have visible door locks (under a cap) and the master keyfob has the key hidden away and not easily accessible.

If you’re worried about security, I’d invest in a krook lock (or equivalent) but good luck either way.

I’ve got an OBD Eleven and have never seen this discussed in the forums.

I guess what the OP is referring to is that you can just walk up to the car with the key in your pocket and unlock it whereas I guess he wants to have to push an unlock button on the fob rather than it being possible without.

Hey eybic - Yes, this. Sorry it was a rushed post and it made sense at the time. I want to use the fob to unlock the car and disable keyless entry via coding software if possible so the car isn't scanning for the key signal.

This wouldn't have been an issue as I avoid keyless cars, but have just been advised that the new car that I have ordered (and is being built next week) has been changed as the specific variant (SE Nav) had been discontinued and the replacement model has keyless as standard - 1 headache that I don't want.

Ok, makes sense now.

I’ve just checked OBD Eleven and there is no app for it (not to say it cannot be long coded) but in the VW owners manual you can disable keyless entry temporarily.

It disables it for the next entry and you need to disable it again every time you exit.

It looks a 5 second process and you could easily make it second nature.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for checking - I had heard you can disable each time the vehicle is locked, it just would have been great if I could have coded it off altogether.

I've heard of the software that you've got, so if it's not on there then I'm going to be pretty much out of luck I think. I could go aftermarket but don't want the expense and the car is on PCH.

Thanks for checking

I had it turned off on my old S5 and it just reverted to standard 'Keyless Go', i.e. the sensors on the door handles are unresponsive and you need to physically press lock/ unlock on the fob. Once inside the car you can use the Start/ Stop button for the engine.

Unfortunately am not sure how it was done since the car was like that when I bought it! I would've thought in VCDS you'd need to do something in the door modules to code out the sensors on the handle. Should definitely be possible though.

There is a checkbox on my Audi 2018 RS5, that allows me to switch off keyless entry for the doors.. This is done through the MMI settings. I would imagine something similar on yours, as they are giving people the choice to switch it off...

Im guessing this option will probably be standard on all new VAG/keyless entry cars nowadays.

Actually they possibly seem to be going backwards! I've been out in the new A1 and Q3 recently which have both reverted back to classic style flip keys which you need to put into the ignition...

Keyless Go is still standard on a lot of models but full Keyless Entry (as per the OP) isn't as common as you might think these days. It's suffered a lot of bad press recently.

Correct - and the Tiguan that I had on order which is being built next week has been upgraded to 'Match' trim as they no longer make the SE Nav - Match comes with keyless entry and keyless start!

Apparently it is not possible to turn it off on the OBC, hence asking about coding.

Someone posted that the following may be possible via OBDeleven, but I am not a member of any VW forums to ask or confirm:

Long coding
Control unit: B7 Access Startsystem Interface
Values:
Passive entry frt.pass. door handle:
Old value: activated
New value: Not activated
Passive entry driver door handle:
Old value: activated
New value: Not activated

That coding is most likely what I had on my S5, the door handle sensors are disabled so it stops it from working. Looks like it will do what you need then

Are you concerned about a 'relay' attack? I don't know how widely this has been implemented, but some 2019 VAG models have fobs with a motion sensor, so it shuts down if it's not moved.

Word was they were implementing this on the Tiguan (I have one on order too with Keyless Entry, hence finding this thread)

Trouble is, with my cynical hat on, its quite hard to test their claims of a motion sensor being built into the key, without me building up a relay system to test with....

I have VCDS so think I'll be testing out the coding posted above - thanks for that.

If it is like the Kodiaq (probably share the same keyless system) there is an easy way to lock the car deactivating the keyless entry. Press the lock button on the key and touch the door handle as if keyless locking.

These relay attacks appear to be on the increase. I have switched off the key-less entry on my RS5, however my S1 does not have this feature. I have invested in one of those pouches that blocks signals, hope that helps to deter..

I wish manufacturers would publish how safe their systems are and take these matters more seriously..

Why is it difficult? If the key disables transmission after a certain time, put the key within range, wait for the timeout, then try to open the door?

You can code out the keyless entry fairly simply with VCDS. As above it involves deactivating the sensors in the doors.

VCDS
Electronics1
05-Acc/Start Auth
07-Coding
Long coding helper
Then un check the boxes in Bit0 and Bit1 labelled as Activation of Kessy door handle driver/passenger.

Save the new code. (Always worth taking a screen shot etc of the old code in case you cack it up...)

Keyless ignition is held in a different module so is unaffected.

Hope this helps
