Hi

In August 2018 I bought a 2007 Hyundai Coupe 1.6 as a first step back into car ownership after some years of having motorbikes as my primary form of transport. I've enjoyed the Hyundai so much I'm looking to chop it in for the 2.0 model; a little bit more poke, nicer interior etc.

Anyway, the very nice chap at the dealers where I bought the 1.6 now has a 2009 2.0 for sale which I went to look at the weekend. Two owners from new. Cosmetically its in great condition inside and out. Low miles at 53,000 (which I've verified through the MOT history). It's also a fair price at less than £4k (and he's offered me a fair trade in price for mine). It has two problems:
- The clutch has had it. Like, REALLY had it. I took it on a test drive and the clutch pedal practically has no bite point at all. It's a bit of struggle to get it moving off the line.
- It has no service after about 2014 / 36,000 miles.

The dealer has agreed to have the clutch replaced at his cost with Exedy or Valeo parts. He's also said that he'll arrange for the same garage to give it a full service, passing on to me the cost but also the VAT saving (so a cost to me of £125).

What do you reckon? Go for it on the basis of a new clutch and full service, or walk away given the lack of service history etc?

All help appreciated.

K

On the face of it & from what you describe there are other ones out there for 4k that have been better maintained:
