BMW E39 Crankshaft sensor: VDO-Siemens?
Discussion
Hi everybody, I´ve got some Inpa error codes in my E39 530i and seem related to the crankshaft position sensor.
The BMW dealer wants 150€, my local spare parts shop asks 85€ for a VDO-Siemens. I´ve been told (not from the parts shop!) that BMW OEM sensors are made by VDO-Siemens. Is that true?
I installed a camshaft position sensor on my 328i E36 two years ago, without issues.
Thanks a lot.

have replaced a few on mine over the years. dont buy one unless genuine bmw from dealer. call ed at cotswold hereford and tell him i sent you. for the sake of a few beers its not worth the potential hassle.
no doubt they are made by the same company but i wont take the chance given the potential consequences
