"The last airworthy Gloster Meteor of its kind"
As in night fighter variant. I think the two converted T7s at Martin Baker are still flying.

It popped up on a forces page yesterday that the last airworthy Meteor in the UK has retired.
It will be joining the fleet at Bruntingthorpe and will be maintained in running condition and used for fast taxying runs .
I found it amazing that one was still in use .
It's the ex-Classic Flight NF.11, which has been up for sale for some time, but not found a buyer (unsurprising in the post-Shoreham situation in the UK) and It's not really being retired from anything, as it was a pure airshow performer, so not sure why they think it is, and it's not the last airworthy Meteor in the UK either (as Martin Baker still have their two examples)It will be joining the fleet at Bruntingthorpe and will be maintained in running condition and used for fast taxying runs .

It's the last purely civilian owned example since the export of the airworthy T.7 to the USA a year or so ago, which is probably what they mean, in a confused way

Without wanting to say too much on here, there is a lot more to this than being reported, such as ongoing ownership disputes, broken verbal agreements, and a barn full of airworthy spares that would keep it flying for years.
It may yet not be the end of flying for this particular aircraft, watch this space.
