Was in an Oris London dealership over the weekend and have always admired the Oris divers watches. Really like the look and they seem to have a good selection to chose from. I was pretty surprised at the prices, some of them being well under £1.5k. Is the price in relation to how the brand is perceived, as the quality looked very good, clearly they are Swiss made and have all the usual features of a quality watch..

Very decent "mid range" watches.

Used prices seem to indicate they depreciate quite heavily from new.

I like Oris watches a lot, in particular the Aquis range. However I like the ability to change the look of my watches with different straps and the integrated lugs on certain Oris watches make it a bit more tricky to do. You can get adapters I'm sure.

Oris are a nice brand and do some interesting pieces. I had an Oris Big Crown pointer date small seconds that I loved but foolishly gave to an ex girlfriend to wear and never got back. I'd buy another Oris quite happily.

What he said. Decent mid-range watches. Tom Kerridge was wearing a diver on his new television show last week. Not that such a fact will help your decision! hehe

If you like a watch, buy it.

Wearing mine at the moment, doesn’t really get much wrist time but had it about 15 years when i bought it new for £595 never been serviced generally just wear it to work. Still keeps perfect time and shows no sign of needing a service so thumbs up from me.

The detailing, at least on mine is a little less fancy than in others but then they are cheaper.

I'm liking the simplicity of that!

I have an Aquis, and I'm very happy with it. Decent quality, and surprisingly uncommon

My daily is an Oris Aquis Diver. Seen frontline policing, diving and everything in between. It’s comfy, reliable and looks pretty good.
(I did have a Sub previously, but couldn’t live with the Mercedes hands. The timekeeping wasn’t that special, either.)
I had thought about the Tudor Pelagos but, TBH, this is a watch for the boychild when I’m done and I don’t want to think twice about busting up a £3k timepiece when things go a bit wrong, so went for a secondhand Oris at £800.
The diving range from Sinn is another consideration.

I use an Oris Williams F1 as my daily, and have done for the past 12 years.
It’s gets far more wrist time than my Seamaster, and many people think it’s a better watch than my sons Air King.

I have 2, both over 10 years old and used regularly, both still look good and maintain good time. Prices seem to have increased, as got mine for about £300-450 new at the time although both good deals.

I rate the quality, some unusual styles and most of all that I hardly ever see anyone else wearing an Oris. 17 years in financial services and only ever seen 1 other, compared to the hundreds of TAG, Omega, Rolex, etc.

Watch snobs may deride the standard movements, but many other brands use them too, and Oris do actually have their own movement, but at a higher price point than most of their range.

Will probably add a Chronoris or Diver 65 at some point.

A quick review of the many "what watch for this or that price" will highlight lots of recommendations for Oris watches,

They do have a certain following within PH,

There not at £1.5k due to the perceived brand image … more the quality within the build, Oris watches compete in this area of the market, …. Not being a watch snob as £1k is a not inconsiderable sum to pay for a watch

I would expect a £1k Oris to have noticeable points of finishing or mechanical improvements over my freshly bought £500 Certina, I can see them on my £1k Ball watch and i'd be surprised if I didn't, As I'd be surprised if I couldn't see improvements on Omega/Brightbling watches over the Ball watch

The recommendations on this thread should give you confidence that your in the right VFM with Oris smile

I don't understand this. Some Oris watches are £1,500 and more.

Indeed and some are significantly cheaper, but what my poorly written thoughts are, is they appear to represent good value for their price..... be it £600 or £2.5,
To the OP I'd be searching the main high end high street jewellers web sites for their Jan sales as there appears some good deals on Oris watches thumbup

So, if anyone was after a barely worn, pre-owned Aquis I have one available. PM me.

Great watches thumbup

In terms of quality, I think Oris punches nicely above its weight, e.g. Oris will be a bit better built than an equivalent-priced TAG Heuer. (I’ve had both.)

Thanks for the feedback all. I have another diver in my collection, however just keep getting drawn to them, as been said earlier £1.5k for a quality watch is not massively expensive and would have thought they would be more expensive, as they are a more known brand, unlike the Glycine diver I have. Compare a Aquis to say an IWC Aquatimer. - £4k+ upwards, I imagine the IWC is not £2k more worth of watch.

Like the look of this:
