I asked this question on a facebook group, but thought I would also ask here to get any other advise.

Bit of a strange request. But looking for car seats that fit the Chim. The little one is now a year old and will be too big for his current one soon. Trying to get him on the right track for the love of cars. 😀

Any recommendations for child seats that fit the Chim appreciated.
So far I have seen 4 online which look to fit the bill, but don't know if they will fit the car.
Recaro Young Sport Hero 123 seat
Joie Everystage car seat
Joie Elevate 123 seat
Britax Romer Evolva 123 car seat - This I believe will fit, but have heard that I might need to remove the headrest which I would rather not do if I can help it.

Many thanks in advance.

I used a Recaro Young Sport without any problems, not sure in the one you specify is much different though.

Thanks Swanjack. From what I read the Hero has different belts and is the only difference from what I can tell.

"HERO safety system prevents belts from slipping or twisting and makes buckling up easy"

Certainly a contender then. smile

We have the Maxi-cosi Tobi

Key things is that the seat belt fastenings/buckle points are on 'stalks' (ie stick out from the seat), and you need a child seat that has clearance to avoid the plastic of the seat belt buckle resting on or against the child seat

We chose Maxi Cosi Axis because it rotates 90 degrees, which makes it easier to get the child in the seat particularly if she/he is against the whole idea

just be aware of buckle crunching :-

"If any part of the plastic seat belt buckle casing is on or over the plastic frame of the seat, it is an unsafe fit, which is called buckle crunch. Buckle crunch typically happens in vehicle's that have the female buckle on a long stalk, causing it to protrude out of the vehicle seat."

The chimaera buckle is on a long stalk.

Thanks guys. I should imagine most car seats will suffer from buckle crunch. The recaro young sport is now discontinued so that's a no go. What are the others like for buckle crunch? Anyone use the Britax romer elvola 123 seat. Someone of Facebook recomended it to me but don't know what it's like for buckle crunch.

Just to finish off this thread in case anyone else is looking for a car seat. The Britax Romer Evolva 123 does fit. Buckle comes close but fits fine. Especially if you move the vehicle seat forward a bit.
