So im currently less than a week away from collecting my GTI 😁, however i was supposed to receive it in December but it was delayed by a month due to the new EU emissions laws (WLTP).

Today i received the registration-plate for said new car and i can see on DVLA that its been registered in the UK and taxed since 01.12.2018 but im being told its only just arrived in the UK.

Im interpreting this as the car has been here but sat around for a month when i could of been driving it?

Confused, but im no expert.

I would interpret that the same way as the DVLA data is unlikely to be wrong! Seems odd though as usually dealers are keen to get cars out the door ASAP when they arrive, rather than leave them sitting. Only saving grace might be this means they've registered it with the lower NEDC co2 output rather than the WLTP co2 which is higher.

My only other thinking is maybe my car was damaged in transit and rather than tell me theyve tried fixing it or something. However thats probably just me otherthinking.

As the warranty and the roadside assistance start from the date of registration, you are effectively losing out out on approx 6 weeks of each.
