I've seen a car online that might suit MrsIA2. I decided to have a look at the MoT history to inform my contact with dealer.

It's a 57 plate, a well known marque and a fairly common car.

Any idea why it would not recognise the vehicle?

Is it on a private plate?

No, just a normal AB55 CDE plate.

If you have access to an HPi check for the car, it may be worth checking for any reg number changes and trying the previous ones in case of some sort of glitch not linking the correct one on the MOT system.

You'd know it by doing an HPI, as suggested by one of the other replies. It's probably had a recent plate change and DVLA not yet updated.

How long does it take for system to note change, if indeed it there was a change?

It's been on current plate at least a month.

Don't really feel inclined to spend any money on checks unless I'm serious about buying.

Contact the dealer and ask them to confirm the information about the reg number and if there are any reasons why it wouldn't show on a mot check.

Does a vehicle tax check or insurance check on MID return any results?

Good thinking, just tried, not insured.

ETA: MoT expired Oct '18 and untaxed since Sept '18

ETA: Odd that the .gov websites have differing info.

I'd prefer, if possible to have the information before I call the dealer.

Good thinking, just tried, not insured.
But the registration plate was valid. What about vehicle tax - it should either show as taxed or SORNed I guess.

Seems odd that there's a record of it having no MoT, but no record of the MoT history.

Annoying too...
