Hi,

Monday I broke down and a set of traffic lights. Managed to push the car with the help of a bystander to a dead end side road out of the way of traffic. I had my hazard lights on while I tried to get the car going again. I wasn’t able to do anything so called RAC and they said wait time was 2-3 hrs at least. I had my 1 year old with me so decided to leave the car and get him home then come back for the car later. I put a note on the car saying RAC called 2-3 hrs wait time. It was left on double reds but in a side road. I’m not sure if they are still active double reds the road layout has been changed recently but the lines look quite old. The road has double red for a bit then parking spaces at the dead end.

Should I be expecting a ticket soon? And is it possible to challenge it?

Pretty sure if an unattended car is discovered on double reds they tow it... If your car was still there when you got back I'd bet you're fine.

So I ended up getting a PCN for my breakdown.
I am going to contest it. I have the full report from break down company so can send that in as well. Surprised I got PCN when its actually down a side road and I wasn’t towed.
