Thinking of a Stage 1 map on my 2016 S1. Any ideas at what power point the clutch starts to struggle? What clutch upgrade do I need should I decide to proceed? There'll be no Stage 2, everyone probably says that though. I'd be happy with 300 bhp. Thanks for any pointers.

I run an 8v S3 manual and the standard clutch is woeful even with standard power. I don’t know if S1 uses same clutch but I’d consider upgrading to a Sachs clutch if you remap.
Perhaps check awesome GTI- I’ve bought some bits from them and they seem pretty knowledgable.

Who are you looking to use for the remap OP? Most of the forums I have seen suggest clutch upgrades, however many others also suggest the standard clutch deals with Stage 1 as long as you are not doing launches every day and using the power while rolling..Also probably an upgrade on tyres would be in order, as these Bridgestone Potenza we have ours are utter garbage.. I hear Michelin Pilot Sport transforms the grip..

I've had issues with the clutch on my 2015 TT with the same engine, and I've also read lots of complaints from S3/ Golf R owners. So as they're struggling at stock I think it will be risky with a power increase!

Many thanks for your experiences and thoughts. I have no problems with my current factory 6 speed manual clutch, just hoping/wishing to avoid having to swap out a perfectly good clutch for a bit more power. But if it's made of chocolate, I may not bother. It depends on costs, I'll have yo get some quotes. I'll not be doing any launches or track days, just using the extra 60bhp when I'm on the move. Yes, Bridgestones are rubbish, particularly this time of year. They'll be changed later in the year, possibly for Uniroyal Rainsport 3, had them on other cars, they're fantastic in the wet. I've emailed Clive Atthowe Tuning a Revo dealer in Norwich, I'm Cambridge way so not too far away. Anyone used his services?
