I was pretty set on replacing my mk.3 Focus ST with the CTR, but after driving an M2 for a week I'm liking German metal these days too.

Question is: the prices are pretty close, but I can't choose between the two! Spoiler doesn't make a difference, I'd be speccing the A35 with the aero pack laugh

Thoughts folks? driving

Have you taken them both out for a test drive?

What's your deciding factors; Maximum performance, tunability, handling, space, luxury?

Personally, I'd take the FK8 due to my (big) honda bias - Personally ( boxedin ) I love the looks - Nothing wrong with obnoxious and gaudy, but then I'm not pushing my 50's like most around here thumbup

What are residuals like for each? The CTR is nice but it's a BIG car. I think that if you're a proper PHer you'll prefer the Honda but the AMG is nice too. First world problems....

I'll be hopefully testing the CTR shortly but can't see any A35's just yet. Vs a lot of other cars I'd say the 4WD would be a big difference but the reviews of the CTR make me think the grip is awesome anyway!

Priorities wise, I'm not too concerned with residuals as I'm likely to finance in some way, to be honest the Merc wasn't on my radar until I saw the lease deals!

Part of me really wants the road-going touring car in the CTR; the other part of me is surprised I can actually afford an AMG anything and the interior tech looks amazing.

Fast computer on wheels, or touring car? confused

I'd say the test drives will tell you which car suits you best, as you say with lease deals so close only driving them will make up your mind.

It's an interesting segment of the market. I'm biased because I bought a new FK8 and in doing so looked at, then discounted, other nice cars like the Golf R and Focus RS. All these cars are plenty quick enough so the decider comes down so much to personal opinion. I love the look to the Type-R so it was a no brainer in my case.

I'd probably take a second look if I saw the Merc on the road or in the carpark but even from looking at the pics in the reviews I know it wouldn't be the car for me. Nice dilemma to have tho.
