My 1979 Scirocco is in need of some restoration, welding and respray, any recommendations in The Newbury, west Berkshire Area

The problem with that is anything that mentions restoration adds multiples of £ to the bill but most garages don't weld any more.
There are a couple of places just north of swindon but, dare I say it, they tend to be aimed at vehicles slightly more esteemed than a 79 scirocco.

It depends what needs doing and what finish you want but I'd be looking for a old school garage not a restoration place.
Isn't there an old alfa place in Newbury - Black and white? They might be able to suggest local people.

That's a shame, there's been an alfa presence in newbury for ages. The only other place I know that seems to get a good rep is the merc place - automerc.
Again they won't be doing it but they may be able to help steer you.

Abingdon Car Restoration in Steventon rather than Abingdon . Heard good things but never used them

I've not used him, but I hear good reports (from some local high-end classic dealers I've worked with) of Ady Goodwin at Membury.
