What a super looking machine.

"This 1972 Cypress Green Volvo 145 de Luxe was ordered directly from Volvo in Sweden as a right hand drive model to be delivered to Lt Col CGK Underhill serving in the 7th Tank regiment in Germany. The first couple of services were carried out by Volvo before Underhill took over the job himself, maintaining the service book, noting the grade of oil he used and other jobs carried out at the time. The history file has his ID card a phrase book ‘for drivers', a map and list of European service centres.
Under his ownership the service book runs up to July 1984 at 43,427 miles detailing 8 services over the 12 years. The car was then exported to the Isle of Man where it saw little use before being laid up.
It was eventually bought by a classic car enthusiast and brought back to the England. He did some research and confirmed all of the details with Volvo in Sweden to register it with the DVLA . ............."
Money, Herself (has a loathing of all Volvos) and it not being an automatic (I'm a lazy so n so when it comes to cars), I'd rather like that!

My parents ran these through the 70's. The irony being, we grew up in Oxford (of course with BL/Cowley) and every single car on every drive was a pile of rusting/failing BL junk.
My parents are/were foreigners, so they knew from experience, if you wanted a reliable car- don't buy British. So one car was a Volvo- the other a Toyota estate of some description.
But I recall as a child all the BL stuff down our road/on the driveways, with oil pans catching leaks, some seemed to spend their lives on ramps, some were just off the road for ever.................
