Hi all

Where in your opinion is the best place for buying currency on-line? Off to the states shortly and given the massive defeat for May I think I should buy now rather than before I go in March.

FairFx seems the best to me doing a quick search but have never used them before.

Cheers

Unless you are buying a ton of currency the general fluctuations wont make much difference to you. It's been bouncing around from 1.27-1.29 since late October last year. That's a difference of 2 cent in every pound you spend. I wouldn't worry too much. Not unless your thinking on converting thousands of pounds.

I'm an online retailer and i'm converting $100k+ every 2 weeks over to GBP. To me it actually makes quite a difference, but there's not much i can do about the rate when i need to convert. Some days its more in my favour than others.

Yeah - not much difference in the on-line places.Just changing over 2k so no major savings.

Post appreciated though - cheers.

Don’t bother just use your cards over there like you would in the UK. The days of taking cash and travellers cheques are dead. I travel all over the world and barely touch any local money. The fluctuations and the charges are not big enough to really bother

I also do this. I take about £50-70 worth in cash just to get me a cab at the airport or a bite to eat on arrival etc ad then i just use my card to pay with and withdraw cash. I feel like getting wads of cash and travellers cheques is very old fashioned. The sort of thing my mum and dad would do smile

I tend to use my Nationwide card overseas and if I want to use cash I exchange over there.

Thailand and Turkey always give me better rates on the street than over there and I tend to still use cash a lot as I like to tip in cash.
