Buying a car with a new engine?

Question.

My cousin looking to buy a range and seen one on a 15 plate he likes at the main dealer.

He called them up and they said during their checks they figured it needs a new engine so are putting a new one in at a cost of near £21k.

Would you be tempted or walk away?

What is the value of the Rangie...£40k ?

What is the reason for the engine to be replaced and do you honestly think the supplying garage is going to spend say 50% of the vehicle value to replace it's engine?

I’d assume it’s at a main dealer and the engine is being replaced by LR themselves?
