Nitrons on a pre cat griff
Discussion
Hi Big bore....
Can't see why it would be any different to a 500, Fitted mine a couple of months ago and made a huge difference. Took me about 5hrs to fit aswell, quite an easy job. Well worth the money! Buy them from Julian at balancemotorsport.co.uk, top guy, good advice! (oh and I am not on commission).
Also search the archives loads on nitrons, I am 99% sure the fittment will be the same on all Griffs.
Lig.

Forget the nitrons and save some money.
Go for the Joospeed protek damper, give him a call if you can find his number!!!
He may be along in a minute anyway
They are available mail order and i have had one in my hand (ooeerr) and they are a well constructed design that are as light as F
K.
I will be ordering them as soon as i have fitted my red poly bushes.

690 plus vat for the kit with springs to suit your application (I'd want to have a chat to you about how you drive, car set up etc before you ordered) and stroke and valving to suit the springs.
It's almsot like having nitron configurability, but they're a twin tube so smaller piston area (so down on nitron spec) but alloy bodied so good heat transfer properties like a Nitron.
they have a three year guarantee, spherical rod end bearings and I've never had a faulty one yet. they're spanking gorgeous
standard fast road kits off the shelf usually, bespoke kits around a week from point of order.
I'm convinced they're the best value damper on the market .. because I specced them to be so! lol

Did you buy them for the S?
I've never ordered any for the S series yet but the dampers they make for the chim and cerbera chassised cars were miles out on the specs so i have them made to my own specs, hence the reason I sell them under the joospeed banner and not protechs .. you can't buy them to the same spec from anywhere else.
The S cars essentially use a griff front damper stroke front and rear so maybe they've got the right specs for those already?
I would be interested in your thoughts on the std protech S damper if that's what you've got .. I'm considering taking my nitrons off the V8S and putting some bespoke protechs on so people can feel for themselves how compliant they are

you can buy dampers direct from protech at 110 each. But they're wrong. whoever gave them the original spec got it wrong so i have them made to my spec instead, but don't charge you any more than the 110 protech would for the wrong ones! lol.
I'll charge you 690 for four dampers and a set of springs fitted, greased and packed with 16 spacers to suit your car, stroke lengths and valving to suit your application and driving style.
I'm too cheap .. bugger

To answer the specific Nitron question. I have the “standard” Nitron damper and spring package on my 98 500. The immediate improvement compared to the original standard set-up was obvious and significant. However, you have to consider that the old ones were changed because one was leaking and the others looking quite sad. Had I fitted original spec it may have been equally good. The adjustability is useful, 12 clicks from hard for road use and 9 firms things up nicely for the track. I can think of no reason why it would be any different just because yours is an earlier car.
Joolz, would you say that the Protech Dampers are better than Avos? I bought a full set of AVOs from you for my Cerbera and they made a huge difference.
I have a chimaera 500 now which is feeling rather baggy by comparison! and was going to order AVOs again but it sounds like these protechs may be the way to go!!
Also, is the ride height adjustable?
The car will be used for fast road and occasional track day.
