Diamond Investing
Discussion
Anybody have any views on the above?
I like the idea of an actual physical investment and over the longer time period they seem to have performed pretty well (obviously there have been some downturns too).
Current returns on ISA's , Saving accounts aren't matching inflation so i'm looking at alternatives.
Rough stones can also be measured for their actual content accurately now for future cutting.
Any thoughts appreciated

Unless you are an expert, in the trade with access to buy at trade then I doubt its feasible
Diamonds are a retail product with retail margins, the mainstream stones you buy on the open market that we have access to dont generally go up in value. Typically you lose 40-50% when you walk away from the shop.....like buying a car.
You take the wife's ring in for insurance valuation and "oh yes this would cost £3k to replace sir" but when you go to sell the ring its "trade price on this is £1300 sir, take it or leave it"
Here you go - good article here:

I guess you could invest in small diamond mining companies and hope they strike it rich ...try say Newfield Resources NWF on the Australian market
