Whats peoples thoughts on Car WOW. Ive registered a spec on there to get some quotes....and a pushy salesman has said;

"Great, please can I take your contact number and email address and we will get in touch with some options?

Car Wow won't let you write your number so please can you sepll it, i.e. zero one two two four four five two eight zero two and info at petervardy dot com."

When I said that I would prefer to deal via CarWOW he said;

"Unfortunately we are unable to provides quotes via carwow, if you can provide your details, a business manager will be in touch."

Whats the crack with Car WOW and dealers...do they have to pay commission? Surely trying to manipulate a customer into given a direct contact number is against the car wow terms?

01224 (Aberdeen area code) + Peter Vardy + Arsey = Aberdeen Land Rover laugh

I'd also put money on them being the most expensive quote you get

They can provide quotes via carwow - tell him your deposit, annual miles and term and he will get you a monthly quote.
Admittedly I have not done it with JLR but have with Merc, Audi and VW so don't see why others would be different.

Presuming its the same as other online companies I've supplied when working at dealers, yes the dealer pays an intro fee to the agent. Hence them trying to get out of it.
My absolute favourite to deal with were drive the deal, just the loveliest chaps to deal with.

He has had every detail when I created the quote m8.... annual milage, up front, monthly....even down to the options I want on that car.

I bought a new V40 last July via Car Wow. Great experience and would use it again.

I asked the dealer what the deal is and they said it is a flat fee paid by the dealer to Car Wow once the deal is set in place.

Sounds like he's trying to avoid the charge. Might be worth speaking to Car Wow about the dealer as they clearly want the benefits but not the overheads.

In mid 2017 I went for an interview at CarWow and a couple of days prior to it I called and spoke to the New Car Sales manager at my local VW dealer for some background info. They were not linked to CarWow at the time but were speaking to them.

Anyway, to answer your question, there could be a few reasons for your experience:

1) Your salesperson was acting CarWow contact for the dealer whist the actual contact (with their face on the CarWow message from that dealer) was on holiday.
2) Your salesperson was perhaps having a bad start to the year and didn't fancy CarWow commission coming out of his profit for the potential deal.
3) The salesperson/dealer as a whole might be trying to syphon CarWow contacts as if they were non-CarWow contacts - perhaps the demands they are making of dealers are getting too much, the bigger UK reach they get with more signups.
4) Or something I've not thought of :-)

Probably very much against the terms.

I'd have replied to him, "Well what the fk are you doing on CarWOW then you massive, throbbing bell-end...?"

We looked for a Jaguar via carwow, 2 dealers stopped being part of carwow due to costs. We ended up buying a F Pace via Duckworths Jaguar Boston, total discount was in excess of what car wow were offering, we dealt with James Clarke.

He is just trying to avoid the CarWow fee that the dealer has to pay when someone agrees a deal through them, also if he deals directly with you, he will have more control.

Then he shouldn't be using CarWow to find enquiries...
