What is recommended to replace the gasket for the 4.2 airboxes mating to the Inlet?
I can't see anything listed on TVRParts and it looks like it's just a very thin square profile foam.

I don't think there is a gasket it is just a bit of draught excluder around the outside edge.

Self adhesive draft excluder about 10mm wide is best as stated above. Some service centers will mastic the air box on but if yours come off as often as mine something like draft excluder is far better.

Yep that's exactly what it looks like, looks very thin though, only a few mm. Will have a look at what sizes of closed cell self adhesive are available.

Be careful to make sure that whatever foam strip you use stays in place.
You don't want the end of the strip to come adrift and get sucked into the throttle jamming the butterfly partly open when you are giving it a bit of pedal up a motorway sliproad... DAMHIKIJKOK

That happened to me too! I came off the M25 to head down the A3 and it was idling at just over 3k revs when I stopped at the traffic lights. A length of felt was stopping the butterfly closing in cylinder 1.

Luckily I had my tools, so pulled over into the layby and after a bit of messing about with the link rod and the throttle cable, took the airbox off and saw the offending item.
