Need a new electric shaver....
Discussion
As the title says, I need a new electric shaver and could do with some recommendations as the last one wasn't that great. I do normally wet shave after the dry and an electric never seems to get the neck hairs.
I have a goatee so it needs a decent trimmer. Other than that, what do the PH massif suggest based on experience or recs? The last three I've had have been the 3 round headed variety. Are they still the best type to go for, or have the single long foil (?) type now up there?
Thanks in advance gentlemen

After 30 years of using them I came to the conclusion they are all garbage. I bought the best reviewed Panasonic a couple of years ago at just a smidge under £500 and its just as bad as all the others. It may be my hair I don't know, probably. But either way its just gathering dust. I used to use Mach 3 but they are so expensive now I just use disposable, plus the new Gillette "anti men" campaign = no more money from me.
The only way I could get the Panasonic to even get close to a proper shave was to use it twice a day.

I don't "do" the beard or goatee thing, although I might go for a few days without shaving if I'm WFH or off sailing or something, although usually a few days' stubble makes me look like someone off crimewatch!
I've just bought a Philips OneBlade and I like it, it's marketed as a trimmer for everywhere (yep, even down there) and it's very versatile. Obviously it's not as close as a wet shave but it's very good, and interestingly if I shave my face with it, and then leave it for a few days and let a bit of stubble grow in, it somehow looks a lot neater than if I've done the same thing after a wet shave. It comes with a variety of different guards and combs for doing different bits of your face and bod.
My only gripe is the blades are expensive at £10, they do last well it seems, so probably no different to running costs on a decent wet razor. However, if you drop it, the blade is fragile and I managed to break a pretty new one which was a bit of a pain. It almost needs a lanyard!

Philips s720 for me, similarly goat-eed
Easy clip on /off heads, 1 with a 0-5 grade trimmer and the other head has a 2-headed phillishave attachment , which is easier to navigate round your chops than the massive 3-head one Philips makes.
I think it has a wet / dry combo too but never used it. Cost me £50 from amazon about 3 yea ago

I have reread the OP 3 times I am still not sure if it is a euphemism, if so...

If not, there may be some valid solutions on there as I believe some posters use them in other areas.

I wet shave, however I do have one of the above for using when I haven't shaved for a few days (and then wet shave afterwards). It's extremely good, but doesn't give you a finished smooth shave. After using it you have a slight, almost unnoticeable stubble. Good for trimming I would think.caduceus said:

Happy to help sir. Glad you like it...I must admit having wet shaved for all of my adult life (Gillette, Harry's, Cornerstone) I'm now a big fan of the OneBlade and won't be going back to a wet shave unless it's the kind of occasion where I'd be wearing a DJ or similar. It is a good bit of kit...love mine.Cheers!

Had a Remington for years, changed foil and cutters a few times but really good until the battery wouldn't charge anymore.
Bought a Braun, nowhere near as good.
Won't run while plugged into the charger so if it dies half way through a shave you have to stop until it gets enough charge. Won't cut stubble over two days old without using the side cutter first.
