I’m acquiring a PS2 at the weekend with a few games. Exactly what is required to make it look as decent as possible on a HDTV? I know with the standard cables it will look like ass, any ideas?

You can get an RGB component connector for the PS2 for a few quid. Think that's the best option and looks pretty decent on a hd tv.

Remember a large modern tv will expose how dated the graphics are.
A PS2 is retro these days.

I finally got round to hooking it up this weekend, it looks like crap on my 49 inch full HD TV as expected. This tv doesn’t have component input, so I’m going to use it in the bedroom instead with our old HD ready (720p I think) which does have the component input. It already looks better on the smaller older TV, so I’m hoping the component cable will sharpen it up a tad more. I forgot to order them when first making this topic, so have ordered some for tomorrow.

Thanks all for the help!

Well unfortunately the component cables didn’t work (get sound but no picture). The PS2 is set to component out but still no joy. Like I said though on my older 720p tv it does look better than on my HDTV.. I don’t know what else to try for the component cables, I’ve fiddled around with tv settings but no joy!

Thank you, but that doesn’t do anything to improve the picture, just provides another connection. I briefly got it to work today then it cut out, I think my component out on the old Toshiba might be knackered.
