Has anyone had a problem with warning coming on ?

I've done just under 2000 miles, as I switched on
Service warning came on & engine attention needed.
I turned off then on again and nothing has happened
since.

I spoke to the dealer who said it must be a glitch
in the system.

Has anyone else had this glitch

Cheers

Yeah that happened to mine a few months back... nothing to worry about, took it to vauxhall and they reset the ecu (I think!). Was fine after that and hasn't happened since.

Take the car to the dealer and ask them to read the DTC Codes stored in the PCM........

All error events are stored, if it was a major error it would keep coming back.....

Quite often the error is the O2 sensors not heating up in time but it could be many other things....best to check

uk_hsv - if only I'd joined this forum sooner your wise words would have helped me too - anyway I assumed that Vauxhall Christchurch knew what they were doing. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. However, I will ask them if they checked the doodaa for the error code - what was it you said???

I have had the light come up a couple of times. Had a read of the trouble codes that the car stores and found it was the O2 sensor heater. Always ask what the trouble code was from your dealer this could give you a heads up on intermittent problems.

Paul's right, I'd take it to the Dealer to get a full print out & health check.

Have you done any work on the car recently? Done anything close to the front of the car (Air Filter for example). You could have inadvertantly knocked one of the sensors.

In the mean time, you should be able to access the DTC through the dash. It keeps a history log (ASAIK 50 restarts) .

Quote from the ls1 forums:

"DIAGNOSTIC MODE OPERATION
To enter the instrument cluster diagnostic mode, press the trip computer switch MODE button down together with the "UP" button while turning the ignition from off to on. Further pressing the MODE button will step through the various instrument cluster information displays.
When the Diagnostic Mode Display is reached, pressing the "UP" button increments the DTC number and related information displayed, while the "DN" button can be used to decrement the DTC number and related information. To exi the instrument t cluster diagnostic mode, press both the "UP" button and the "DN" button together.
A DTC is shown on the Diagnostic Mode Display as ‘t NN XY’ , where:
t = diagnostic trouble code (DTC),
NN = the actual DTC number,
X = the history DTC status (H for active and – for inactive), and
Y = the current DTC status (C for active and – for inactive).

A DTC may also be cleared from the instrument cluster using the trip computer switches while in the diagnostic
mode. With the DTC displayed in the instrument cluster window, press both the "UP" button and the "DN" button together
for more than 2 seconds. Pressing these buttons for less than 2 seconds will exit the instrument cluster diagnostic
mode."

Once you get the 5 digit DTC, look it up here:

Hope it helps

Tried this yesterday several times and was unable to access the Diagnostic Mode Display. Have others been more sucessful?

To get into diagnostic mode on any VY model, you hold the Mode and Set buttons while turning ignition from off to on.

To get into "service reset" mode, you hold down both arrows while turning ignition from off to on.

BTW - the "trouble codes" displayed are only for the dash and dash related items. Not PCM/BCM related

What's the secret 'three-finger-salute' combo for the Monaro?
I've tried most buttons, but no luck yet ...

Must admit, I didnt know about this mode. I do however have an Autotap scan tool from the USA which gives access to read and reset all codes, and it also grabs the freeze-frame data at the moment the code was set, and also live data for checking and logging. Very useful and interesting, and they are cheap as chips as well.
