Hi guys, I've just bought a 10'plate golf and has a knock coming from passenger rear when I go over residential calming bumps. . . can you give me some things to try and locate the problem unless of course someone would know what the problem is? Thanks in advance

If it was me I’d be looking to see if the rear spring has snapped anywhere from the top or the bottom of the coil. Check for leaking or knackered shocks. If all that area looks good then look at your rear drop links if the rear has any (not familiar with your set up). My bet rear coil spring.

Before delving into anything mechanical, make sure it isn't the seatbelt latch plate rattling against the door trim (mine did this for a while). Also make sure the tool kit in the spare wheel well is secure.

Then I'd look at the road springs as suggested, although the rears rarely fail. Maybe give the antiroll bars a wiggle and see if the bushes are in good nick, I've heard of the drop links wearing out and clonking.
