I have a GMT shaped hole in my life which is starting to dominate both waking and sleeping moments...

My preferences are for:

Automatic movement
Separate GMT / UTC hand (as opposed to IWC style 2nd time zone indicator)
24 hr movable bezel as well as / instead of fixed 24 hr markings
Preferably internal bezel as opposed to diver style external bezel
Something that doesn't look too much like an Explorer me-too
Around 40mm case size
Tool watch look / feel as opposed to more dressy look
As unfussy as dial as possible
Preferably no more than £1000

Happy to buy used to get what I'm looking for

I've had a lot of fun searching but have found it alot harder than expected to find any options - the closest so far (which misses a lot of the preferences above) is the Bell & Ross BR V2 93 (pic below) but it's more expensive than I was looking to pay and when I tried it on it didn't feel that special.

Any thoughts?

I've been having the same Dilemma.

My GMT hole is temporarily filled with a Seiko SUN025P1 which cost me about £300 and I'm quite liking - but it's Quartz and very Explorerish.

If you want Automatic at that price point, I think your options are:

Steinhart Ocean GMT - several options available but diver style which you say you don't like, very good watch if you're happy with the homage thing.
Christopher Ward C8 UTC Worldtimer - might be a bit big at 44mm.
Squale 30 Atmos GMT - As per Steinhart.

Edited to add - Alpina Alpine 4 GMT

I love my one of these. Got a good discount from CW and paired it with a Nato strap. It's now my daily (aside from when I need to use my Apple Watch). 4mm over your ideal size but other than that it seems to tick the boxes.

Happy hunting!

Update - as per my post in 'Incoming', I found a microbrand called Monta Watches who have been around for a couple years and who released an auto GMT model called 'Skyquest' last year.

The reviews looked good and it met my criteria better than anything else I saw so I placed an order and after a bit of a wait while they made another batch, it arrived yesterday... wearing it now, and, I have to say, I'm very pleased with it:

If you were to possibly consider a quartz watch, this (or even more so the "Flash Model) may fit the bill. Perfectly understand if quartz is not your choice though!

Funny, this one (with the black face) did catch my eye, I think they're very nice, if slightly 'sterile' looking if you know what I mean - quartz and lack of rotation on the 24hr markers put me off in the end though.

I have a Monta Oceanking (the first generation model) and I love it.

The finishing is excellent, with polished chamfers on the case, lugs, bracelet (both sides) & clasp - there’s not an uncomfortable sharp edge on the thing.

The bracelet is one of the best I’ve seen - fully articulating links (so they can actually be folded right back & stacked vertically on top of each other) mean the bracelet drapes nicely to fit your wrist. Excellent end-link fit to the case, screwed pins, a good clasp & beautiful finishing complete the package.

The hands & indices are also top-notch - diamond-cut for crisp lines, beautifully faceted to reflect light & plated with Rhodium so they have a real lustre.

In the above aspects, I think they are the equal - and in some ways, better than - my Rolex, Tudor & Omega watches.

Glad you like it, OP thumbup

It's always a bit of a gamble purchasing a watch without ever seeing one in the metal beforehand let alone trying it on. I was going to ask which bezel/dial combo you had ordered when you posted in the "Incoming" thread, the black & black works best on the Skyquest.
