Ducati - Partly to look at it , ride it and an investment?
Discussion
Not many bikes will make money unless you have proper cash, I don't.
However having had bikes for 15 years until 2012 now 7 years on I fancy one again as a bit of a toy to clean, look at ,occasionally ride and that in 10 years time might be worth the same.
Budget up to 5k.
Not really trying to make money but like wise if I am not going to ride it much i Want to keep deprecation minimal.
Its needs to be Ducati (had an 851 before) and it will be red, I am thinking 748, have test ridden one before and it fits perfectly and I never got one and went the the Kawasaki route that time.
I have had gsxr400, zxr750j2 , gsxr600k1, ducati 851 and a zx6rr
Should I be looking at something else, what should I get?

While it might not depreciate much, are you handy with a spanner so that you can do most of the maintenance yourself? You need to factor in the true cost of ownership if you want to sell it on in a few years time and not lose much money. Apologies if I have ruined any man maths at work...
Belt changes etc are not cheap. Buy it, ride it, enjoy it. Best investment you can make.

No spanner’s here but I can lose the maintenance, tax and insurance costs in the man maths - those don’t count!
Will look for a 748 I think.
Saw one earlier but had no service history to show of for the first 15 years so that’s a no go!

I fancied doing something similar last year so at your budget I got a mint 01 R1, last of the carbed models (which I may regret!) with 8K Miles, same basis as you, to cherish ride a little bit and may go up if lucky, or at least not loose anything. And I have literally spent more time fettling and waxing it than riding : D
