Looking to replace my navara pickup with something both the other half and I can drive.

Looking to spend about 20k on a nearly new.

Looked at the Hyundai Tucson, Skoda karoq, and mazda cx-5.

Wife is 5' 2" I'm 6' 3" so some won't fit (like the karoq sadly)

Also needs to have fold flat seats to fit my drum kit in.

Going to look at a kia sportage later.

No Seat Ateca's nearby.

Struggling to find a suitable car with leather seats and petrol.

Anyone got opinions on the above selection or any more alternatives?

I've been doing a similar search myself.

Mazda CX-5 is the nicest (IMO) of the ones you've mentioned. I was looking at Sportages the other day. It was fine, but it was car-as-appliance if you see what I mean. Also, all those undulations on the bonnet made it slightly difficult to know where the front was. I'd have been worried about parking it.

Does it have to be an SUV? Estate might be better for you and your kit. (Longer body and load area.) Subaru Outback or Volvo XC70 could be a compromise between SUV and estate. Slight oddball suggestion, but even a Peugeot 508 SW RXH might be in with a shout (if you can find one).

I would have a look for an Ateca. They're doing 0% on new ones, if that's your bag. Drove one, really nice drive to be honest, not sporty, and doesn't pretend to be. Feels sturdy and relaxing to drive. I'm 6ft and fit in it fine.

I'm also doing this exercise for my mother. She has had a 2008 Forester XT (2.5 turbo) for years and it's been great, but it's time for an upgrade. So far we have looked at a Ford Kuga, a Honda CRV, a VW Tiguan, an Audi Q3 and even a Mini All4 Countryman, but none pleased her because they all had poorer performance and 360 degree visibility from the driver's seat. Modern fashion is to have taller doors and shallower windows. So I think she's going to have another Forester XT: they still have a big glass house and decent performance!

What about a Subaru Forester? They sit a tad higher than the Outbacks (that are also excellent in our experience!) so they are more of an SUV than the Outback.

Thx for the suggestions so far. Yes I've started looking at estates too, but it does depend on fitting a rather large bass drum in. My wife also has short legs so getting a manual where she can change gear without being too close to the wheel is a challenge.
People don't seem to like paying for leather interiors either!

sadly most of those are diesel.

My wife is shortly to leave ford, so we could get an ex company car, but the edge is too big for her and the kuga is too small for me :-(

Similarly shopping for my girlfriend, criteria:

1. High (so a small SUV)
2. Petrol
3. Manual
4. Some brand value
5. Doesn't have to be 4WD

Thinking XC60/F-Pace.

Subaru Forester or Outback. Go and look at them to see which works best for you. I’ve just driven up the Horseshoe Pass in the most hideous snowy weather in my Forester and it is just brilliant.

Popular opinion suggests the cx-5 is the best drive from the ones you mention but I personally think the 2018 model has a much nicer interior than the previous model.

She already has an mx5, and I have a Westfield, so buying 2 more could be classed as overkill

Thanks for the advice everyone. Went out and bought a Jan 2018 Peugeot 3008 today. Very nice car in excellent condition with just about every add on possible.

Petrol and automatic.

Excellent choice, one of the best small SUV's on the market, good residuals and reliable.
Just about to pick my 2nd one up next week, going from a 2017 GT Line to a 2019 GT but from manual to EAT8 auto biggrin

How much did you pay? I am think about purchasing one myself. A few Peugeot dealerships are offering 1k deposit contribution of PCP deals - for diesels only. But I prefer petrol myself. Petrol GT Lines are around 20-22k?

Used ones will be, new ones won't.
Are you also looking for a manual or auto, 1.2 130 or 1.6 165 petrol?
Then you can hit one more snag, do you want to spec the car and have it new from the factory (about a 3-4 month wait at the moment as they are moving some production to another factory), or if you are like me and are not fussy, just get one from stock (you may save more money here). Also the dealers will offer you different deals, Robin's and Day are Peugeot affiliated dealers, the rest are franchise dealerships.
Though if you are up in northern England, I can put you onto my local dealer to see what they can do smile
