Thinking of buying this X3
Discussion
I'm thinking of travelling from London to Leeds to look at this X3, but wondering what is the light that's lit up on the dash?

Also, any thoughts on whether or not this is a good example to buy? It's tough to find one this model year that isn't completely trashed on the inside.

The engine is running and the EML is lit up; I'd be wanting to know what that is before going anywhere near it!
Could be something as simple as a split air intake pipe, or something more engine/sensor related.
Ask them to get it sorted/find out the issue and let you know what it is before doing anything further

I thought as much. The reviews of the place aren't very reassuring either and it's a commitment of a whole day to go look at it.
Finding a £3000 petrol X3 in good nick seems impossible!
Quite a few on eBay classifieds; might be worth saving a touch more and look at closer examplesFinding a £3000 petrol X3 in good nick seems impossible!
Personally; I'd try and go for the 3.0 too if you can; having test driven both, the 3.0 is a better engine IMO

I forgot about eBay actually.
I've only driven a 3.0L and wasn't blown away with the performance so I can imagine how the 2.5 and 2.0 are...

This 3.0 petrol looks a good one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-BMW-X3-3-0i-Sport-...

Be very sure, if you've asked them to check and sort the EML linked issue(s), that they haven't just used a cheap OBDII reader to plug into the car and reset the light, masking the issues but removing the warning on the dash.
It’s not the EML, it’s the door open warning light Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
