My home life leads me to think that I might need to give up my office job at some point, and do something flexible around the kids

I live a few minutes away from a busy regional airport and have always thought airport valet parking would be an absolute hoot.

How does one find out about these jobs? How badly is it paid! Are there any airport parking people on PH?

Edited to add. I have looked on job sites but haven't seen anything like this advertised

If my experience is anything to go by, you can supplement the poor pay by stealing stuff from the cars you park. Admittedly, it was quite a few years back but I have never used one since.

I have looked on job sites thanks, and nothing is advertised anywhere, as per your link.

I get that it would be a low paid crappy job but it would be an interesting way to try different cars and substantially better than the usual care work

I used to work for one of the biggest companies, looking after their fleet of cars in the UK. Much better paid way of achieving your aim hehe

What about the first job "Meet and greet valet parking driver"?

Isn't that what you want to do?

When you say "to try different cars" how far or how fast do you think you would get to drive them, assuming you worked for a reputable company?

I think google is probably tailoring results. I don’t get that - this morning it was car park Manager in Manchester. Now it’s showing check in agent in Bristol. Probably down to geographic location of isp

Quarter mile at normal road speeds if I am lucky. I get that it’s not on a race track.

I am an old fart. I’ve done my stupid young racer stuff. I’ve driven tanks, tractors, small vans, and lots of random st old cars. The only time I get to drive anything under 5 years old is if work get me a hire car or I talk my way into a test drive. Now there’s electronic handbrakes, keyless ignition, all sorts of stuff, and cars, which I am not going to get to play with any time soon, if at all. If I need a stty flexible job, why not park luxo barges? Beats wiping arses.

A friend did car delivery driving. Usually one way sort of stuff. He got to drive everything from a Mini returning from the garage, to brand new Mercs and Audi's with factory miles going to be delivered to dealers.

Is that car maintenance rather than driving though ?

I am near B’ham and actually not too far from Cov (though that’s just cargo these days I think)

Even when it was doing the odd passenger flight it was hardly ripe for meet and greet parking hehe

You'd be better off doing airport run mini cabbing.
