Hello All,

My first post on Piston heads! SO, it has to start with my most anticipated question

In a nutshell - Can i get my car to sound louder?

If so, what would i need to do.
I have seen things about a straight pipe exhaust - relatively unteccy with cars.

If i get a remap - will that improve sound on my deisal car?

Car details
Not remapped.
Currently at 177BHP
BMW 320 D 62 plate.
2L

Thanks

Don't mess around with diesel exhausts. Buy a better car.

Get a banging sound system fitted...and drive around with your windows open.

Just wait for timing chain to stretch, that gives a massive sound increase.

On a serious note a remap won’t make it louder.

Wrong sub forum. This is for M cars, M3, M5 etc.....

No one, I mean absolutely no one wants to hear anymore noise from your car, it's a 2.0d and it's not going to sound good, ever.

Previous poster was brutal but honest.

Not quite the same thing but someone near me has a transit van from which they must have removed a good part of the silencer. It sounds like a rugby squad after a night out on curry and lager. Not at all nice or sporty or powerful sounding. Just noisy. 4 blokes farting loudly in a barrel. I'm hoping it fails its next MOT.

A 62 plate will be 184 bhp - so you're already up on you 177! :-)

But as above - they sound crap, I can say that because I used to own one! Nothing you can do other than removing the DPF and running a straight through exhaust (which you can't do legally) will make the N47 sound anything other than a rattly diesel.
