e60 525d cutting out
Discussion
Very odd one this, over the last couple of days my 5 series has developed a weird problem. If I'm driving at a steady speed, like on my commute to work, after a couple of miles, the engine seems to lose power, almost like it's switched itself off but it hasn't.
Putting the clutch in and pumping the accelerator pedal has no effect, the revs stay at idle for the first couple of pumps, then it'll pick up again and it's back to normal.
That's been the situation Monday and Tuesday, then this morning, it actually cut out completely, the engine was off, pressed the starter button and it fired straight back up, stuttered a couple of times then it was fine.
I've got a full tank of diesel so it doesn't seem to be fuel starvation, it's more of an electrical problem, like a dodgy sensor or something?
