Timing chain broke 2006 2.7 Boxster automatic
Discussion
Drove as i normally do,once a week the 30 miles to my parents house on Monday. No problems until i came to start up to return . Engines gumbling and theres no power. Got i towed to lee at Cotswold Porsche who give me the bad news that the timing chain has broke.
Now that my jaw is back off the floor. I dont understand the car is serviced regularly even though another is due soon . Mileage is only 77.400
So.. as i,m learning my options are Expensive or even more expensive. Im told the cheapest is to have a second hand engine fitted which sounds just great. and to the most exp being a rebuild. I did read a story of someone with a similar problem from April last year.
.. I read Hartech are the best rebuilders but i just dont know what to do. The cars immaculate
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for that info. I have just had a conversation with a guy at Hartech. With the vat added and worst case scenario about 6k. It's about 4k for them to get out and on the bench for strip.
The car cost me 10.5k about 3years ago so I'm between a rock and a hard place as to my options. Do you know where I'd look for a replacement as you suggest.?
Thanks again
