As title I’ve ruled out diesels because of swirl flaps particle filters etc seem more trouble than they’re worth. Main candidate is BMW 330i m touring or 530i somewhat by default as I can’t think of anything else also automatic is required

Definite possibility the rarity is its main problem I’ve looked can’t find one with reasonably mileage at budget yet

I would not rule out a diesel, I’ve got a 2008 535d estate, the swirl flaps have been removed, otherwise standard. Lovely car.

Yep lovely car but I ran a 330i for a year and a mate had a 330d at the same time and the problems he had put me off completely and we went up to Scotland together fuel consumption was not vastly better in the diesel and when we swapped cars he didn’t want to get back in his diesel and I couldn’t wait to get back in mine.

I was gonna say 335i but they're pretty rare too tbh.

Octavia vRS? A late MK2 or if you could stretch the budget a bit you might get a early MBQ model.

If you're brave and open to high running costs, early RS6? S4?

If you want fast and practical, an Audi A6 3.0TFSI plus remap. One of the cheaper ways to a tractable 400bhp.

Good idea l will sometimes if I’m away for work be covering 200 plus miles on a Friday night in all weathers so the four wheel drive could be a boon

If your on Facebook join Volvo Owners UK Group, they are always coming up for sale , they do seem to change hands between enthusiasts quite often so probably don't make it onto the normal classified sites

So much want. But not the potential bankruptcy from running costs...

I want to pretend I'm in Layer Cake.

Yep, that's the one. 340BHP from a creamy, screaming V8!

I've had one for the past couple of years and they're lovely things to drive around in. Plus I do like the rarity value as I've only come across one other B6 out on the roads whilst driving.

Exactly my thoughts - I got quite excited when I saw it. Then I stopped, thought about what could go wrong and how expensive that would be.

So I'm looking for a Full Fat Range Rover instead hehe
