The car battery in in my 09 plate V8V convertible, has been on its way out for the last 2 weeks and ive had to jump it a few times.

Each time ive jumped it, it has said there is an issue with the alarm and an alarm reset is required. To clear this message i would just get out of the car, lock it with the remote, unlock it with the remote and it was back to normal.

Today the AA put a new car battery in, they plugged a memory saver jump pack into the the diagnostic port whilst changing at the car battery.

The new car battery works fine, but the remote key fob has stopped working for lock / unlock, boot unlock, welcome lights etc.

The remote key fob still can turn on / off the car. I can still lock / unlock the central locking using the lock button in the central console. The wing mirrors will go in / out fine if i hold down the mirror fold buttons.

The AA have confirmed that the remote key fob is outputting RF with an RF receiver checker. And i have tried a couple of remotes.

But the car still wont receive any remote commands from the remote. I have also noticed that the traction control seems to have stopped working as the car will wheel spin allot, which it didnt used to do. There is no error showing for the traction control, and ive turned it on / off and it dosnt seem to make a difference.

Any idea why the remote and traction control have stopped working and what i can do to resolve it ?

Short answer: no; see dealer.

Longer: if you gut a key fob there are two components. First a circuit board which controls the central locking and secondly a small five sided black lump which is the transponder that talks to the ignition.

Somehow, you cars has lost the ability to read what circuit board broadcasts and to run the TC (I assume you’re spinning the wheels without lighting up the TC light on the dash). I’d guess it needs some software fix, but beyond that no idea.

Hi,

I was wondering what the outcome of this was, please, or if anyone has experience with fixing this issue?

I have exactly the same problem this morning after changing my battery. The keys all start the car, but the remote functions on all three previously working keys do nothing.

I've tried several suggestions online, but none seem to work. If I can fix this at home rather than going to a dealer, that would be ideal.

Thanks!

Do you happen to have the seed and fob ID codes / cards of the keys in your possession?
