Perfect time to buy a Quattro!

Needed an interim barge and set my sights on an A4 Avant Quattro, found one and collected last Wednesday. I knew at this money there would be a few annoyances, non matching tyres being the most likely to cause my OCD to kick-in! So last weekend when a set of immaculate Ronals came up for sale on eBay near home with virtually unused matching winters on, I bought them in readiness. Swapped them over as soon as I got home.
With perfect timing, snow arrived in the South overnight so had much fun on the way to work today on unused lanes using that fancy S Line spoiler as a snowplough! I'd cleared the snow off the front before I left home, that lot collected in less than five miles.
Seems to be a pretty capable machine!

The 4wd system does work well on these VAG group cars......I assume it's the same as we had on an Octavia Vrs last year during the show and the Superb we've now got?
Only issue we had last year was ground clearance or lack of due to the depth of snow and being paranoid about scraping the bumper on a 3 month old car, but we never had a problem with grip despite performance orientated tyres.
However, neither compare to the abilities of the Panda 4x4 I've just bought the wife!

My old S4 has been a godsend every year when the snow comes. We now live on a single track road that doesn't get gritted of ploughed. I take the long section to the nearest town and up to Glasgow each day - car is superb. Currently covered in snow and ice that isn't melting. Car purrs over it all.
As said earlier, depth is the limiting factor, but I've got original springs on and the thing is like on stilts so not as bad.
