Has anyone had any problems with insurance when fitting a de-cat pipe?

Personally no. But I found no discernible difference in performance when I took a de-cat pipe off my R300, and put the cat back on.

Not sure if the OP has a K or Duratec, but the Duratec develops more power with the CAT fitted. This seems to be due to the exhaust 'step' provided by the CAT casing. Whether this is by luck, or design, who knows! But removing CAT for use on public roads is technically an offence and could have an impact on an insurance claim if they felt that way inclined.

Sorry, I did not mention that it was a Duratec, but it's legality I'm after as I've seen lots over the years that should, but don't have a cat. I would be fitting a de-cat pipe purely for aesthetics.

I know it's a dull idea, but surely the only way you can really know is to ask the insurer?

Ok, called 'Footman James' and it's not a problem as far as my insurer is concerned. Happy days! Just need some nice weather now...
