Hi guys,

Soon to start my first job and will probably need a car, preferably something fairly fun and sporty. Have between 5 or 6 thousand to spend. Recommend me something. Also please no coupes as I'm not keen on them really.

I will have had licence for 6 years come March 2019, so I don't think insurance is going to be too much of an issue. But nothing ridiculously high in terms of insurance group.

Have already looked at:

Mondeo ST 220: probably no because the V6 makes it awful in terms of fuel economy, unless someone can show categorically that MPG is not too bad.
mk3 Audi A4 S-Line (although I don't know what part costs will be like on this since its German?)
mk2 Octavia VRS (particularly the face lift ones with the modified front lights) (good car, but I do agree with some, that it looks too much like a taxi car)

Saab 9-3 Aero. Your budget should get you a very good one, mine returned about 32-34mpg on a commute that was mostly A-roads. Real-world performance is better than the figures suggest- in particular they're very quick 30-70.

Ok. Any idea about part availability and pricing, since Saab are now no more?

Never had any problems with mine, a reasonable number of parts are GM parts bin stuff. For those that aren't, there are plenty of specialists who have a good range available.
