Hi,

I'm a newbie on here, and hope to be an Elise owner some time soon. This question is from my Girlfriend, she's moaning about missing the heated leather seats in my curent car already!

So, basically I was wondering how much space is there, anyone got any pics? Is there any room behind the seats?

(I don't think it will have a bearing on my decision)

I'm looking at a 2002(ish) S2.

Any help would be great.

ROb.

A squishy bag is about as good as you'll get in the boot, and there's very little room in the cockpit behind the seats. There's a small net which you can maybe put a map or two in, but nothing more. If you put the roof there,no space at all

Sorry to be the barer of bad news but, that is the ONLY problem with owning one.

Just pack wisely and all will be fine...!

Learn how to pack. It's bigger than you think. The space extends into the extremities of the rear clam and although the battery is in the way, you can put things behind and around it.

Went to France for two weeks, 2 people. You can get some items behind the seats, jackets coats, shoes etc. The boot had a couple of squishy bags with other sundry items packed loose around them. We took a very large picnic rug, walking boots and other 'luxury' items.

That really is the key, pack items loose or in small bags that can fit around a couple of larger carry-alls. The only thing to be wary of is not to overload the car, the recommended load capacity is 50Kg in the boot IIRC.

Regards, Neil

THanks for the info. I originally asked as I'm going on a driving holiday to scotland soon (and camping!)and was wondering how much was going to be shifted over to my freinds S4!, but I doubt I'll have sold my car before then, so it won't matter on this occasion.

Does anyone have any pics of the "boot" handy?
And 10 bags of Tesco shopping! Crazy.

This is a pic pinched from an ad in the classifieds. It's a 111r lump but I'm guessing the boot space in a K series won't be much different...

As is noted before, you just get clever at packing. I can get 10+ bags of shopping in the car (incl passenger seat) and when I travel I use space behind the seats, in the boot and in the passenger footwell.

If your GF is bothered by a lack of heated seats you're in for some headaches as that will be the least of her worries. Buy one though, sooo much more fun than you can even imagine yet!

looks like a k series to me from that pic, which has a deeper boot than a 111r

THanks mate, exactly what I need.

About what I expected. I did tell she can fit more on her lap, as the roof comes off!

Hi
Got 6 Tesco's bags in on Saturday - and the engine cooked the pizza's by the time I got home. What a cool car!
I go to LeMans every year in an Elise and it amazes me how much you can cram in when you want to. This year it will cope with 2 tents and all equipment ... might have to wear all my clothes I intend to take on the drive down though!

My s2 had quite a bit more room than my s2 exige. Still I can get the weekly big shop in with care.

Last year when i went to Le Mans with a mate i fitted:
2 3 man dome tents
2 collapsable camping chairs
2 single air mattresses
1 electric air pump.
2 lots of clothing for 2 blokes (fresh stuff for each day)
Toiletries and bits and peices.
Also, stowed the soft top behind the seats with the 2 sleeping bags.

As averyones said, you've gotta learn how to pack! If your going on a big trip like Le Mans, pack the car the day before. Then repack it and you'll get even more in!

And yes, it will be one of the best purchases you'll ever make, a top motor!

That picture - how can you tell the difference between the Toyota lump and the Rover lump? I ask because it looks IDENTICAL to my engine bay...which is a 111s !?!

Anyhow - as has been said by all, squishy bags, get creative with the packing - you can't go wrong! Heated seats is not your gf's problem - it will be getting in and out gracefully

I will be doing a 10 day jaunt (Eurohoon) in the Elise, with cameras and clothes galore - for that it will be absolutely fine

Hi

The boot really isn't an issue, you just have to unpack some of your shopping in the car park and fit it in to the gaps to the right & left of the main boot space. It's like the tardis! Did you know it's bigger than the boot in the latest MR2? Just look at how many people 'cope' with them?! My personal best is 8 bags from Sainsburys (I'm posh me!) - note - with the roof up, as it takes up space in the boot when you remove it as you need to store it (with this country's weather it's too risky to leave it at home!). On the day in question I needed the help of my girlfriend's knees on which to place the ridiculous 12 rolls of kitchen roll that she insisted we got 'on offer'... we only needed one!!! We now have rolls of kitchen towel in every drawer in the kitchen and dining room... but we did save 26p... if anyone needs any kitchen roll, give me a shout!!

To put folks out of their misery, the boot above is a 2003 111S, this one to be precise...

www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=42226&s=12

but who's counting.

As for the luggage, same question was posted on seloc.org quite recently with lots of similar responses above... A few people suggested these items too:

www.packmate.co.uk/
www.sector111.com/lotusluggage.html
www.wildday.co.uk/productslist.aspx?DepartmentId=5&selection=0&categoryID=24&productGroupID=273

I haven't done anything more than a long weekend yet, but planning on going to Stelvio in September, 2 blokes for 10 days :-D Can't wait!

Buying mine was the best thing I've done in ages.

I love it, there is no way a girl wearing a skirt can get in or out of the car without flashing her knickers!!!
