At last found the Chim I want, Although it all look fine etc I would like to have it checked over first. From what I can work out I have 3 choices 1) RAC/AA 2)Dealer garage 3)Independent (I have seen some names mention here)but what is the best.
Any suggestions would be welcome and how do I contact the independents?
Found out today that the later models do not have a spare tyre but come with a can of Tyre weld! not sure if i like this idea but it does save a bit of space!

TIA

Roy.

Re the tyre foam - think of it this way, if you had the space saver tyre and used it where would you put the original wheel? (Assuming the boot was being used)

Either the second or third option - AA/RAC not known for their particular understanding of TVRs!

I used the RAC as no deale could fit me in quickly, it was expensive and the chap claimed to have worked for Lotus and TVR, He did point out several minor things which were good bargining tools. A dealer/specialist is the best bet though.

Agreed. RAC chap cost lots of cash, spotted tiny little scratches in the bumper, but did not spot some rather odd things that cost me plenty to put right. Same with my other halfs MR2. Get an independant to look at it, cheaper and better I think.

As far as I know there's only two choices. David Batty (who runs a servicing workshop) or Rob Ingleby (who sorts the wheat from the chaff for prospective buyers). Both have excellent reputations. I would say call Rob on 01280-706332 or 07799-142860. Forget AA/RAC

I would say if you are in North Essex then get on the phone to Offord Motor Co and ask them – phone no in the oily pages I think.

I used Rob Ingleby this week and would recommend him to everyone.

If you want to know more about what he did for me please feel free to email.

I don't feel that happy about not having a spare either but with 15s on the front and 16s on the back, what size spare would you carry - perhaps a 15.5!!!

The tin is smaller than the spacesaver though. So you could get a sheep in the boot (if you wanted to).

I used Steve/Harry at Thames Valley Racetech, they are very reasonable and gave me a complete list of things to consider before the purchase, this wil also give you more barganing power....

Compared to driving on the space saver which needs replacing at some cost of £150 ish it is joy. As for the tyre places, they can moan as much as they like but I bet they wouldn't do it if an Aston came in. BTW I am their customer. Then there is the small problem of where do you put the original tyre? Front seat is usually the only place if there is anything in the boot.
