I had some damp spots develop in back seats and carpet. I was worried something natural wouldn't work so got car cleaners to use chemicals and they said the smell would go in a few days. i am sensitive to chemicals but in a moment of madness and because i just wanted the damp urgently out I let them do it.

unfortunately i'm having a great deal of problems with the chemical smell, i'm itching, having breathing problems etc and it's driving me insane. Any idea what might be a good way to get these chemicals out of seat fibers and carpet?

its so bad im actually thinking of removing all seat fibers.

It says it leaves a pleasent smell so I imagine it would just replace with other chemicals to which I maybe sensitive. I want it all out.

Bicarbonate of Soda in a tray, leave it there for a bit, and it should remove the smell.

Alternatively you can dust the bicarbonate of soda on the carpet, leave it there for a bit, then vaccuum it up.

I've used the tray method and it stopped my car smelling of mouldy damp after a few days. And it's dirt cheap too!

No, it's not an air freshener, it removes odours. I've previously used it to remove mould and piss smells from leather, before refinishing.
