Mercedes AMG GT S
Discussion
Hello everyone, new to the forum and wanted to share my little GTS. Bought it back in 2016 after a long time planning. Found an amazing spec, fully loaded, matte grey with black trim. I had an a45 amg before after driving bmws for a while and really loved it. The GT had been out for a while and prices were dropping on the used car market. Didn't expect the GTR or the GTC to come out so I was hoping it wouldn't drop in value too much (which it has).
Bought it with 15'000km on the clock in Germany and imported it to Switzerland which does save you a bit of money as the VAT in Germany is 19% and it's around 8% in Switzerland. When you've paid the VAT in Switzerland you can get your 19% back from Germany. Also, used cars (especially German ones) tend to be cheaper there.
I wouldn't say I daily it, but I do drive it quite a lot. Although in the winter it's a bit of a garage queen because it does get rather snowy in Switzerland.

I've always loved V8s and this was my first opportunity to own one. It's a total pleasure to drive, although it took some getting used to the enormous bonnet. I took it to the track in Dijon France a couple times too and was all over the place, but great fun. It's got all the grunt you need and with the performance exhaust everyone seems to think I have straight pipes because it's so damn loud, with lovely little crackles and pops. Without being over the top, as some AMGs will be.

I had some gearbox issues but Mercedes replaced the whole thing free of charge. Otherwise it's been great.

Agreed. My dream car. I love the fact that Mercedes being a large production maker can develop the looks of their special cars without real care for the brand look. For me this is far more beautiful than the equivalent Porsche simply because Porsche are entrenched in their cars having that front end look that is only a metamorphosis from their cars of the 60's and 70's. Love it and enjoy!!
A few more as promised

I also had a drive issue when the carbon driveshaft between the engine and the gearbox split. It was a faulty batch and fixed under warranty. Fantastic car but may be time to replace with something mid engined this year. The exhausts sound like shot guns on overrun which is fun in the tunnels.
I drove it back to Scotland a couple of years ago and managed almost 300km/h on the Autobahn, not something I'll look to repeat, but had to try it.

Little bit of a thread resurrection but I'm in the process of purchasing a selenite grey gts and just wondering how you get on with the bike rack? Amy issues, particularly with stress to the contact points on the car?Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
