Very specific X3 load lugging question
Discussion
Hi all, this is my first post on the BMW sub-forum as I've never owned one but am looking at 2014-ish X3 30ds as my next car. They seem to be great all-rounders and tick all the boxes that matter to me but the one thing that would clinch it is knowing that I could fit a standard 3m length of copper pipe/timber in one. This may seem a bit niche but as I'm in the middle of doing up a house it would be a right pain if they wouldn't fit. They'll get in my current estate but not with much to spare and I do know the X3's boot with seats down is about 150mm shorter than that, so it's bound to be marginal.
I appreciate this is a slightly odd question but if anyone could confirm that they have actually done this it would be really helpful.
Cheers,
Rog

I've just checked mine and you can fit a pipe going diagonal from the drivers side boot rear over the seats and lean it on the dashboard all the way to the windscreen. You have about 5-10mm to spare I think. I was doing it with a tape measure but I would politely ask the dealer/seller if you can try it. With the rear drivers seats down it should be a breeze I would think. Well you might have 3 or 4cm to play with. Please try it before you buy!I appreciate this is a slightly odd question but if anyone could confirm that they have actually done this it would be really helpful.

Sounds promising, thanks very much your efforts! I will of course double check 'in the flesh' when I actually start looking at X3s, but for now it's nice to know that the answer is 'probably' so they can stay on the shortlist.Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
