Had 105bhp one in the last fabia we had, was a nice little engine, felt torquier lower down than the 998cc 110bhp engine they replaced it with

What year? Early ones are EA111 and later EA211. I think all of the early VAG TSI petrols are a bit pants, later ones (2013/14 onwards) are much better.

The main problem with the older engines is reliability, not necessarily how good they are to drive. Quite a few had cam chain related failures and like to drink oil. The newer TSI engines are cam belt now. Not sure how prevalent these issues actually are though.

Sold our driving school Fabia 110 1.2 tsi with 155’000 on the clock. Gave very few problems in the 4 years we ran it for. Current 2 year old one is on about 90 k. No major problems.
