rev counter

Hi all, as anybody had problems with the rev counter.
when cruising at 60 mph the rev counter is reading 5300 rpm.

Very good reply,should have said the rev counter seem's to be showing the incorrect rpms when crusing in top gear,showing more revs then the car is doing,its as if the rev counter is getting double the amount of pulse's from the coil.
Have changed all ingnition components but not solved the problem.

It would be strange for this effect to only occur in one gear. I suggest you check the gear ratios and RPM that you should be showing at a given speed in each gear. Should enable you to find out if it really does only occur in top. Much more likely it's a consistent problem that you only notice once running in top gear. Unless it's a major problem to you it must be tempting to ignore it.

HI,this problem appears in all gears.The major headache being that the rev limiter cuts in when pulling hard in all gears,because the ecu thinks that the rev limit as been reached,when actually the car is no where near the limit.
